The Del E. Webb School of Construction Programs will have a new place to call home in early 2014. The site designated at Block 12, on the corner of College Ave. and 7th Street, will include a bookstore, ASU student tour office, and the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. Floors 3, 4, and 5 of the building will include academic and lab space for Civil and Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering and the Del E. Webb School of Construction Programs. The Del E. Webb School of Construction Programs is one of the three programs in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE).
The architect for the project is Gensler | Architekton and the general contractor is Okland Construction. More information on the design and schedule will be presented at the Construction Industry Advisory Council (IAC) meeting on August 22, 2012. Meeting details and RSVP information for the IAC meeting was posted on the DEWSC blog on 31 July.
The building location is generating a lot of excitement given its proximity to the light rail. Foot traffic from the light rail has transformed College Ave. into a major artery for student activities. With student tours and a bookstore as tenants there is also the opportunity to recruit students into SSEBE. Having a building that is near Sun Devil Stadium and the other sports facilities is pretty neat too.
